What have I been up to?

I'm pretty sure that anyone reading this now has followed me here from my other online writing life. So you might be asking, what have I been up to since I stopped writing over there? I’ve been writing over here!

In August of 2012, flying south for my family vacation, I heard a snatch of dialogue in my head, as often happens. I typed it out on my phone, which also happens a lot, and those few lines became the basis of my first original story. I decided I needed a kick in the pants to help overcome my “first time nerves”, so I signed up for National Novel Writing Month in November, 2012.

I won’t lie—it was hard. I quit. More than once. But I came back, kept trying and won NaNo, writing 50,500 words in 30 days. A couple of weeks later, I finished the first draft of what became my first novel, a contemporary romance. I can’t tell you how proud I was of myself. I’d done it. I’d written a book. Hurrah!

Of course, the first draft is just a first step. Many more months went by as I re-wrote, edited and polished, but finally it’s ready for the world and very soon, I’ll get it out there. It’s both exciting and terrifying, but mostly I want it to be read. For all the time I’ve spent on it, it feels only half-finished until the readers get their hands on it.

While I worked on finishing that book, I wrote another one, this one my first historical romance. And while I was working on that one, I got the idea for three more in that universe, so it will ultimately be a series. I’ve just begun work on the second of the series. There are more books on deck, both contemporary romances and historical. As always, there are too many stories to write and not enough hours in the day to do it.

If you’re curious about any of my works in progress or future ideas, I’ve created Pinterest inspiration boards for all of them. You can find the link right there on the right. While you’re there, you can check me out at all my social media sites—I have a Facebook page, Twitter and Goodreads as well as the Pinterest. Like me, friend me, follow me—I’m delighted to interact with you under this new name. I can’t wait to share my first book with you. Thanks for following me here!
