It's release day for A Duchess in Name!

I’m super emotional today. I started writing A Duchess in Name as soon as I finished my first novel, Always, in 2013. It’s been a long road to get to today.

I wrote it. Then I re-wrote it. And re-wrote it again. I queried it with no luck, and had almost given up on writing historical romance altogether. Then one day on twitter, I saw Carina Press holding a twitter pitch event. I wrote a two-tweet pitch of the book and gave it a shot. Three Carina editors asked me to send it in. I submitted it to the brilliant Alissa Davis, who responded first. When I sent the manuscript in, I also sent in blurbs for the two books I envisioned writing next, as part of the series. I just wanted Carina to see that I had a long-term vision for more books, no more than that.

Fast forward two months, the last day of the submission window. I was stalking my inbox, waiting for the polite rejection I’d convinced myself was coming. Imagine my surprise when my cell phone rang, and it was a Carina Press editor wanting to acquire not just A Duchess in Name, but the next two books! I confess, I remember very little of the conversation after that. I do remember sitting on the fire escape behind my office crying tears of happiness.

And here I am, finally, on release day. This is a very special day for me, seeing this novel that I’ve spent so much time with, finally out there in the world. I love it. I hope you do, too.
